In an effort to streamline hospital listings a pilot version of a unique hospital ID master has been launched by the Insurance Information Bureau of India (IIB).
The final objective would be to help evolve standardised treatment protocols and costing template, which will help the health insurance industry to put in place a rationalised system of insurance claim management. It could also lead to a regime of transparent treatment costs and efficient pricing of health insurance products in the long run.
The data is expected to be useful for all insurers, third-party administrators (TPAs) and other stakeholders, such as hospitals.
