Mr. B.D.Banerjee has been recently inducted on the Board of Directors of Royal Sundaram General Insurance Company, Chennai, as an Independent Director (Non-Executive). Insurance Times wishes him well and firmly believes that Royal Sundaram will utilise his expertise suitably even as Mr Banerjee makes a mark in his new role.

This is yet another laurel in his illustrious career spanning more than four decades in the Insurance Industry. Widely admired and acknowledged for his strategic acumen and exploits, Mr. Banerjee has indeed played an important role in the establishment, growth and consolidation of the Non-Life Insurance Sector in India. His effort and initiatives enabled him to occupy top corporate leadership positions like MD, GIC of India, Mumbai, CMD, Oriental Insurance Co, New Delhi and Insurance Ombudsman, Mumbai. He was also a Member of the Consultative Committee of  IRDAI and an Independent Director on the Boards of Rallis India Ltd, Mumbai  and Tata-AIG General Insurance Company Ltd, Mumbai and completed  his full term as such.

As a quintessential Bengali ‘’Bhadrolok’’, he admires Indian Art & Culture, Classical music, Rabindrasangeet, drama and theatre. He is also an avid reader of English and Bengali Literature and an ardent enthusiast of Sports – Soccer, Cricket, Hockey and Tennis, in particular. He enjoys leisure times with family and friends and indulges in travelling with them.
