Bajaj General Insurance has appointed Deepak Reddy as CEO-designate, marking a planned leadership transition at the insurer. Reddy will assume the role of Managing Director and CEO from April 1, 2027, subject to approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). He will become CEO-designate from January 1, 2027, while incumbent MD & CEO Dr. Tapan Singhel will continue until March 31, 2027, ensuring a smooth handover.

The transition follows IRDAI’s rule limiting the maximum continuous tenure of managing directors, CEOs and whole-time directors to 15 years. Singhel has led the insurer since April 2012 and has played a significant role in its evolution from a joint venture into a wholly Bajaj-owned general insurer.

Reddy brings more than 30 years of financial-services experience, including a 17-year association with Bajaj Finserv. During his tenure, he held several leadership positions and most recently led the rural, insurance and gold-loan businesses at Bajaj Finance. He also served as Bajaj Finserv’s first Group Head of Human Resources.

Before returning to the Bajaj Group, Reddy served as CEO of Manappuram Finance. His earlier experience also includes American Express, Standard Chartered Bank and MIRC Electronics.

The leadership change comes as Bajaj General Insurance enters its next phase of growth, with opportunities around insurance penetration, distribution, product innovation and customer-focused insurance solutions.
