On the occasion of its 62nd Foundation Day, United Bank of India launched Protection Campaign in association with its Life Insurance Business Partner, TATA AIG Life Insurance Co. Ltd.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Bhaskar Sen, CMD of the Bank mentioned that United Bank has always been putting its best efforts towards serving the society. Apart from offering various customized banking products, the Bank also distributes a range of parabanking products, namely as Insurance (Life & Non-Insurance), Mutual Funds, Demat etc. The main purpose of selling such products is to offer the customers a wider range of financial products under one roof, i.e. Bank.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Bhaskar Sen, CMD of the Bank mentioned that there is an imperative need for protection of people against unseen eventualities. He further mentioned that India is one of those countries where Insurance penetration is quite low and Life Insurance Premium contributes to only 5.2% of GDP. Life Insurance is an important mechanism to protect the livelihood and provide security to the citizens.

In this context, the Bank has launched Protection Campaign during 18th Dec, 2011 to 31st March, 2012. Various educative series/ events and special awareness campaigns will be organized in the branches of the Bank.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Suresh Mahalingam, MD & CEO, Tata AIG Life Insurance Company Ltd. Said, The core competency of Tata AIG Life Insurance is in the area of managing the financial risks of individuals by developing Protection-centric products to meet the staggering Protection Gap in country.
