Green Delta Insurance PLC has successfully completed Bangladesh’s first-ever Dairy Heat Index Insurance claim settlement recently at Mymensingh. Dairy heat index insurance protects dairy farmers from income loss caused by extreme temperature, which affects cattle health and milk production. The payout is triggered when the temperature and humidity cross a predefined threshold. The claim was settled in collaboration with IBISA Network, Swiss Capacity Building Facility (SCBF) and Association for Peoples Development Stream (APDS).
In the aforementioned claim settlement event, 500 farmers across Chilmari, Shyamnagar, and Haluaghat upazillas of Mymensingh district received timely support so that they could recover from the loss of milk production of their cattle and keep their farms running. The milestone event was attended by Md. Monerul Islam Khan, Chief Executive Officer of APDS, Mr. Anupam Das, Head of Impact Business at Green Delta Insurance PLC, alongside concerned personnel from partner organizations. Their presence highlighted the importance of collaboration in shaping a more secure and climate-resilient future for farmers.
“As pioneers of this innovative insurance product, we are proud to stand beside Bangladesh’s farmers in their fight against climate shocks, and the claim settlement reaffirms our unwavering commitment for supporting them” said Anupam Das, Head of Impact Business at Green Delta Insurance.
Green Delta Insurance PLC, together with its partners, reaffirms its mission to expand inclusive, climate-smart insurance solutions and showcase this landmark achievement as a global model for sustainable development.
