The syllabus for Para 13.2 promotional exam exercise for supervisory, clerical & sub-ordinate staff of the 4 PSU General Insurance Companies has been announced. The new syllabus is objective based except 25 marks in English which is subjective. The details of the new course is given below:-
Exam to be conducted by Insurance Institute of India: General instructions for conduct of the competitive examination for promotion to the cadre of Scale-I officers in Gipsa member companies under para 13.2 of the promotion policy for supervisory, clerical & sub-ordinate staff from 2011 exercise onwards.
1. Papers for the examinations:
A. Paper No 1: Departmental Subjects
1. This paper is for 100 marks.
2. The paper contains 6 groups of departmental subjects viz. (i) Fire Insurance, (ii) Marine Insurance, (III) Miscellaneous Insurance, (iv) Accounts & Investment, (v) Personnel and Legal (Labour Laws) (vi) Data Processing/ mechanization & Management Information Systems.
3. Each group contains 40 Multiple Choice type Questions (MCQ) carrying 01 mark each. Each MCQ has 4 options of
answers,
[Candidates may note that in the Accounts & Investment Group also, all MCQs including those on topics like Trial Balance, P/L Account, Balance Sheet etc. are of objective type.)
4. A candidate has to choose any 03 groups and accordingly the total MCQs available to him/her will be 120. Out of these 120 MCQs, the candidate has to answer a maximum of 100 MCQs only. In the event of any candidate attempting more than 100 MCQs, only the first 100 MCQs in the answer sheet will be evaluated.
5. The Answer Sheet is designed for OMR scanner and candidates have to mark the correct answers in the spaces provided as per directions given. The Answer Sheet shall contain space to answer 40 questions in each of the 03 groups only and on the top of each set of 40 answers, the Candidate has to mention the name and code of group chosen in the space demarcated for the same,
6. Each candidate will be given only one Answer Sheet and no additional or supplementary Answer Sheet shall be provided under any circumstances whatsoever.
7. The time allowed shall be 02 hours.
B. Paper No 2: English and General Knowledge
1. This paper is for 100 marks.
2. The Paper shall consist of 02 parts – (i) Subjective for 25 Marks and (ii) Objective for 75 Marks.
3. The Subjective part shall contain 03 questions – (i) Essay (10 marks) – with a choice to write on anyone of the four topics, (ii) Precis (10 marks) & (iii) Letter (5 marks).
4. The Objective part shall contain 25 MCQs on English and 50 MCQs on General Knowledge. Each MCQ carries 01 mark. Only 75 MCQs will be given in the question paper and all the 75 MCQs are required to be attempted.
5. The total time allowed shall be 2’/2 hours. The Subjective part of Paper 2 will be given to the candidates first at the start of the Paper and collected after 1 hour and 15 minutes. The Objective Part of the question booklet will be given to the candidates only after collecting the answer sheets back, i e. after 1 hour and 15 minutes from the start of the Paper.
II. Negative Marking: There will be NO negative marking for MCQs answered wrongly under either Paper.
III, Passing Requirements: Candidates scoring marks as detailed below will be declared as having passed the Examination:
(a) For General Category candidates a minimum of 50 marks in each of Paper 1 and Paper 2 with an aggregate of 120 for both the Papers together.
(b) For SC / ST Category candidates a minimum of 40 marks in each of Paper 1 and Paper 2 with an aggregate of’100 for both the Papers together.
IV. Group-wise) Part-wise Passing Marks:
(a) In Paper 1, there shall be no individual minimum passing marks for each of the 03 groups opted.
(b) In Paper 2, there shall be no individual minimum passing marks in each of the 02 parts (subjective and objective).
V. Examination Conduct: The candidates have to return the Question Booklets containing Objective type Questions alongwith the Answer Sheets before leaving the Examination Hall.
VI. Queries of the Candidates: Any query on any matter (including queries under RTI Act), relating to this examination, would be addressed by a candidate to his respective Company only.
