Birla Institute of Management Technology BIMTECH and Risk Management Society (RIMS) Signed an MoU today to propagate and bolster risk management education in India.
It was a momentous day for BIMTECH as it entered into an association with globally respected risk management association like RIMS.
BIMTECH, it may be mentioned here, has been the pioneer education institution in India. It was the first to introduce Insurance Management programme way back in 2000.
Prof. (Dr.) Anupam Varma, Dean –Academics and Dy. Director BIMTECH highlighted the role of BIMTECH in propagating insurance and risk management education in India and also praised the significant initiatives of the Programme of Insurance Business Management in contemporary issues like Ayushman Bharat –the game changing massive health insurance cover recently introduced by the Government of India.
Ms. Mary Roth, CEO, RIMS expressed her happiness at forging an association with a renowned institution like BIMTECH, which would help build a risk ambience around management and professional education in India. She lauded the role of BIMTECH in embracing the risk management professional course.
RIMS is a world leading risk management society which has over 10 thousand members across the world with 66 chapters in USA, 10 in Canada and several other in many other countries.
“Our risk management community is made up of many different types of professionals shouldering different responsibilities, like enterprise risk management” MS Roth added.
Prof. (Dr.) Abhijit K Chattoraj, Chairperson Insurance Business Management in his welcome address pointed that the association with RIMS has come at a time when the regulator in India is in the process of adopting risk-based supervisory framework. He felt that the association would help in advancing the structured approach to help assess the varied dimension of risk in changing environment
Mr. Robert Zhang of IKEA China and Compliance Director in RIMS Board gave an engaging presentation on risk management and its dimensions. Concerted efforts of Mr Steven Chou, Sr. Director, Global Development, RIMS, Ms. Fox Carol, Vice President, Strategic Initiatives, RIMS,Ms. Jhelum Bagchi, RIMS and faculty members of Programme of Insurance Business Management Prof. Manoj Pandey, Prof Pratik Priyadarshi and Prof Monika Mittal helped in fruition of this Eventful.
Prof. K, K. Krishnan in his valedictory address expressed his happiness in getting associated with RIMS to broadbase the risk management education in India.
