It may be noted here that Lyceum was the venue in ancient Greece during the times of Socrates, Aristotle, Plato and other great philosophers, where they invited their disciples for discussion, debate and discourse on any subject under the sun. These conversations were saved and are now available as dialogues with great philosophers by publishers like Penguin. Incidentally, Lyceum also doubled up as a gymnasium during part of the day.
The pedagogy as it evolved, prompted disciplesto make enquiries. The mentors in turn, led them to truth through dialogues. The learning occurred in the journey to discover the truth.
In its modern adaptation in BIMTECH, students groups of 2 or 3 join hands to deal with a topical issue in the form of ten to fifteen minutes presentation from any management academic stream before a panel of eminent corporate leaders, professionals and academicians. They experts would be responding by asking for clarifications from students and engage them in conversation and dialogue to enlighten the students.
This platform works across all streams i.e. Marketing, Finance, Operations, OB/ HR, International Business, Retail and Insurance. Lyceum became operational in BIMTECH during 2016 and has been continuing as a knowledge development tool.
