The International Conference on Inclusive Insurance (ICII 2024), taking place from 21-25 October in Kathmandu, Nepal, will mark the 20th edition of this globally significant event. Hosted by the Nepal Insurers’ Association, Life Insurance Association Nepal, Nepal Micro Insurance Association and the Nepal Insurance Authority in collaboration with the Munich Re Foundation and the Microinsurance Network, the conference is expected to draw over 400 participants from around the world. Attendees will include experts from NGOs, development-aid organizations, regulatory bodies, policymakers, and leaders from the insurance industry, all focused on advancing inclusive insurance solutions for low-income and vulnerable households, as well as micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
ICII 2024 will feature a dynamic programme with 24 sessions, including keynote speeches, plenary discussions, panel talks, interactive workshops, field trips, and a press conference for registered media. The agenda will address critical themes such as climate risk insurance, digital innovations in microinsurance, and overcoming barriers to scaling inclusive insurance. Key highlights include the Inaugural Session on 22 October, where the conference will be officially opened on the role of inclusive insurance in strengthening financial resilience, especially for vulnerable communities. President of Nepal Insurers’ Association Mr. Chunky Chhetry remarked, “This conference is a significant opportunity to unite global experts and stakeholders in our shared mission of promoting inclusive insurance. By collaborating and sharing insights, we can Focus on collaboration and innovation in inclusive insurance, ensuring financial protection for underserved populations.
The conference will also host plenary and parallel sessions on topics such as “Climate Change and Disaster Risk Finance,” “Bridging the Insurance Gap: Challenges and Opportunities,” and “The Role of Technology in Expanding Access to Insurance.” The 2024 Microinsurance Network’s Landscape of Microinsurance Report will be presented, providing insights into global market trends and identifying growth opportunities in the sector. Pre-conference workshops will offer practical approaches to designing and implementing inclusive insurance products tailored to underserved populations in emerging markets. On 25 October, participants will have the opportunity to visit a local inclusion programme in Nepal, showcasing the real-world impact of inclusive insurance solutions on local communities.
ICII 2024 promises to be a pivotal event that fosters dialogue and collaboration among global stakeholders, driving forward the development of inclusive insurance products to protect vulnerable populations and build resilience against risks.
