The CID’s Special Operations Group has arrested eight people for running an allegedly fake BPO in Baguiati, offering fake insurance schemes. The accused also tricked people in the name of installing mobile towers.
CID claimed the initial raid was carried out at the BPO’s office inside a flat at Aswini Nagar in Baguiati on November 4.
A CID officer said the accused targeted people from across India. When their targets agreed to takeinsurances, they were asked to deposit a specific amount in advance as insurance fee and processing charges for the expected loan amount.
After getting the “charges”, the accused neither provided loan nor refunded the people, police said. “They posed as employees of a major company,” said an officer.
