Cybersecurity, business continuity and talent management have emerged as major risk priorities for India’s top 100 listed companies, highlighting the increasing complexity of enterprise risk in a rapidly changing business environment.

Cybersecurity remains a critical concern as companies become increasingly dependent on digital systems, cloud infrastructure, connected platforms and third-party technology providers. A cyber incident can extend beyond data loss to disrupt operations, affect customers and create regulatory and reputational consequences.

Business continuity is another significant risk area. Companies are increasingly exposed to disruptions arising from technology failures, cyber incidents, supply-chain interruptions, geopolitical developments and other unexpected events. Maintaining critical operations therefore requires robust continuity and resilience arrangements.

The third major area is talent management. Organisations face challenges in attracting and retaining skilled professionals, particularly in areas where demand for specialised technology, risk and digital capabilities is increasing. Talent shortages can affect both operational performance and the ability to manage emerging risks.

The findings point to a shift in enterprise risk management from traditional financial and operational exposures towards interconnected technology, people and resilience risks.

For boards and risk committees, the challenge is to ensure that these risks are not treated as isolated departmental issues. Cybersecurity, business continuity and talent availability can interact with one another and create broader consequences for business performance.

Companies therefore need stronger enterprise-wide risk assessment, scenario analysis, resilience planning and board-level oversight. Regular testing of business-continuity arrangements and greater attention to technology and workforce dependencies can help organisations prepare for disruption.

The risk landscape for India’s largest listed companies is consequently becoming more interconnected, requiring organisations to move beyond compliance-driven risk management towards continuous resilience and preparedness.
