PNB MetLife has appointed Sagar Balkavde as Associate Director – Statutory Valuation and Reinsurance Administration, strengthening its actuarial and reinsurance functions. The appointment was announced by the insurer on 9 October 2026.
Balkavde brings more than 17 years of professional experience across actuarial valuation, financial reporting, Prophet modelling, capital management, reinsurance administration and actuarial system transformation. His experience spans several areas that are important to the financial management and risk assessment of a life insurance company.
Before joining PNB MetLife, Balkavde worked with ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, where he most recently served as Vice President – Actuarial. Earlier in his career, he held positions with Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance, EY, SBI Life Insurance and Bharti AXA Life Insurance.
The role covers two important areas for a life insurer. Statutory valuation involves assessing liabilities and financial obligations under regulatory requirements, while reinsurance administration supports the management of arrangements through which insurers transfer portions of their risks to reinsurers.
The appointment comes as life insurers face increasing requirements around actuarial capability, capital management, financial reporting and effective reinsurance administration. Balkavde’s experience across these functions is expected to support PNB MetLife’s actuarial capabilities and related risk-management activities.
The appointment also reflects the importance of specialised actuarial and reinsurance expertise in maintaining the financial strength and long-term risk management framework of life insurance companies.
