ProTec General Insurance has appointed Dipankar Saikia as Chief Operating Officer (COO), adding more than 35 years of experience across general and health insurance, operations, business leadership and technology to its leadership team. Saikia joins ProTec after more than nine years at Eicore Technologies, where he served as Executive Director. He has previously held senior leadership positions at Bharti AXA General Insurance, Bajaj General Insurance and The Oriental Insurance Company.
Saikia’s career has covered operations, corporate business, distribution, strategic initiatives, P&L and transformation. At Bharti AXA, he held roles including Senior Vice President and Head of Corporate Business, Senior Vice President for Strategic Initiatives, and regional leadership positions. Earlier, he spent about seven years with Bajaj Allianz General Insurance in operational leadership roles and more than a decade with The Oriental Insurance Company.
The appointment comes as ProTec builds its leadership team after receiving its IRDAI licence in July 2026. The insurer has recently made several senior appointments across claims, actuarial, underwriting, reinsurance and investment functions. Saikia’s experience across insurance operations and technology is expected to support ProTec as it develops its new-age general insurance platform and prepares for market operations.
